Relationship Property Agreement

Planning for the unexpected.

About this document

When you’re in the midst of a happy relationship, the last thing you want to think about is splitting up. But let’s face it – many relationships do end in separation or divorce. While it might feel a little unromantic, creating a Relationship Property Agreement (RPA) helps you plan for the unexpected and ensure you’ll be protected if your relationship ends.

This document offers couples a simple and cost-effective way to create a legally-binding Relationship Property Agreement (aka a “pre-nup”). This agreement allows you to “contract out” of the Property (Relationship) Act’s equal-sharing rules by defining a division of assets that you and your partner both agree upon.
